The wedding season is here and bridezillas are gearing up for their big day in style. Couples have their wedding arrangements planned out in advance for the D-day and it is becoming fancier by the day say, wedding experts. Vithika Agarwal, a wedding planner tells that she once organised a ‚Dabaang‘-themed wedding. “We had an ardent Salman Khan buff asking for a ‚Dabaang‘-themed wedding with the guests wearing sunglasses and the baraat arriving in vintage jeeps. It was quite an interesting concept and we loved the idea.”

India’s wedding market holds a whopping sum of $11 billion, no wonder it comes with the big fat Indian wedding tag. Arif Khan, director of sales at Taj West End, opines “When compared to other metros, Bengalureans have conservative bridal arrangements. Of course, there is innovation but they keep it simple and there is not too much extravaganza.” Elizabeth Joseph, who got married in August hired a wedding planner. She says, “I did this to ensure that I didn’t become a control freak and check on each detail. I just had to be there to ensure the final decisions were made, but everything else was arranged well in advance.”


When conducting elaborate weddings, it is essential to have a budget, tells, AM Indiraapriyadharshini. She has been in the wedding business for three years and tells that though these quirky theme weddings are all exciting they account to a fortune which is highly “dramatic.” She adds, “Though the budget might exceed, it is necessary for everyone to keep a financial plan in mind. That way we can keep a track of how much one is spending.”


Sowmya Raghavan, who runs 3productions a wedding planning company says that there has been an increase in the number of couples who fund their own weddings this year the years.


“Now couples are willing to put their hard earned savings into their weddings. They see it as an important factor to make their wedding special,” she says, adding, “We give brides and bridegrooms packages and they select according to their budget, which makes things very easy.”
