µ-precise process control with cyber speed in optical disc production
ISEDD GmbH from Germany develops innovative and specific measuring and control equipment that is aligned to particular applications and customer demands.
For instance the measuring system MDM-8103 has been developed for non-destructive thickness measurement of stampers for the optical media production (BluRay, HD-DVD, DVD or CD). Using capacitive distance sensors the instrument scans the round nickel sheet and is able to assign all measurement values to the geometric position. The measured values are compared automatically to the reference values and clear good-bad information is displayed on the screen.
These measurement results are highly important for the electro plated nickel process in the pre-stage as well as for the final replication of the optical media in the injection moulding machine. Normally the maximum deviation of the homogenous thickness must be less than ± 3µm. The quality information is used additionally for the quantification of process reliability of the electroforming bathes. By this means it is possible to reduce the percentage of rejects by preventive action.
The measuring accuracy of the MDM-8103 is better than ± 0,5µm with sensor distance of max. 1,8mm and a scan time of less than 4 seconds.
Depending on their task the instruments are equipped with laser-triangulations, laser-line triangulation, confocal chromatic, non-contact laser displacement or eddy-current sensors together with an individual software solution for a highly precise and fast production control.
This new technology allows optimal quality control in the flow process and additionally it boosts the process optimization.
