Bright colours, lavish gujiyas and melodious songs are the ingredients of perfect Holi. There is no festival more vibrant, colourful and exhilarating than Holi. And as the joyous festivity leaves behind so many hues to cherish with the beloved ones—it also can cause various aftermaths like many of us suffer from skin problems, allergies, breakouts and irritations later on.
As we talk about health problems, we ask Bhupendra Dave, a physician on what are the problems people usually suffer post Holi, he details, „Because of aerosol based components of colours, bronchital infections are very common and they can be treated with proper consulting and medication. That apart, while throwing colours at each other, people do not realise that these colours might enter the eye, damage the ocular surface and cause temporary problems. It does lead to swelling or reddening of eyes or in certain cases it is also a form of conjunctivitis.“ He adds on, „I generally recommend my patients to use herbal colours but, within the enthusiasm of festivity, they overlook the suggestions which create problems for them.“
Colour exposure is always maximum on skin hence skin problem, allergies are common. We talk to Seema Jain, a dermatologist, she says, „I come across various skin problems. One is where skin is exposed to harmful chemicals which lead to rashes or allergies. Also, many skin infections are caused when people are trying to remove the colours post-Holi using certain harsh things like kerosene; people should avoid such usage. And, third kind of infection is related to sun rays causing damage to skin—it’s not just tanning but also burning sensation due to it.“ She adds, „People should apply barrier creams, moisturisers and sunscreen lotions before playing Holi and in case of missing it, one should consult skin specialist to and take up medication to avoid severe problems.“
And it is not just medication but beauty treatments are taken up more post Holi. We ask Aanall Christian, creative director of a beauty clinic, she says, „I get more clients post Holi for various skin and hair treatments. Within skin treatments, it is deep cleansing, exfoliation, pedicures, manicures, facials, face masks etc which are taken up by customers and it is done post proper skin-consulting. Within hair treatments, it is hair masks, rehydration therapies and proper cleansing of hair using mild shampoos and deep conditioners is opted by clients. It is that skin and hair become dry because of colours exposure, sun rays and changing season so utmost care is needed.“Also read here:uk prom dresses
