The world’s biggest platinum-miner, Anglo Platinum, says that the company will abide by the laws of the country in which it operates.
This comes after the government of Zimbabwe published a draft version of its new mining Bill, which will give the government a free 25% stake in mining companies opera-ting in that country.
Anglo Platinum’s head of corporate communication, Simon Tebele, says that the company has, however, not received any formal documentation on the proposed Bill.
One of Anglo Platinum’s projects, the Unki mine, has been lying below the radar for a number of years while political stability in Zimbabwe deteriorated. But, says Tebele, as the platinum price continues to surge, so has the economic viability of the ventcalcite crusher from germanyure.
The project, which is owned by Anglo American Zimbabwe, but is managed by Anglo Platinum, is making significant progress towards achieving full production of 120 000 t/m by the fourth quarter of 2010.
The Unki project lies on the Great Dyke. The dyke varies between 10 km and 30 km in width, and comprises a large sulphide zone, of which about 2,5 m is mineralised.
Despite logistical issues, difficulty in procuring equipment, and difficultsecondary crusher for gold miney in securing suitable contractors in Zimbabwe, the project is currently well on target to achieve its deadlines.
Work on the Unki project includes the construction of an 8-km pipeline from the Luciliapoort dam to the mine reservoir, and a 132/11-kV substation and a 33-km powerline. The development of a twin decline, as well as four ventilation shafts, is also planned.
The development of eight equipped mining sectors, a housing development consistpowder plant for dry mortaring of 915 houses in a nearby town, and a contractors’ camp equipped to house 1 500 employees are also on the cards.
The 8-km pipeline from the Luciliapoort dam is expected to be complete by July 2008, and a river had to be diverted in order to construct the pipeline below the water crossing. Consulting firm TWP, which is responsible for the develop- ment of the project, says the company has already completed the river crossing, successfully achieving its goal for completion beforecrusher price in maharashtra the rainy season.
The development of the sub- station and powerline is becoming a growing development priority, since the project has been subject to load-shedding in the past. In spite of this, however, the decline development is ahead of schedule, and both declines are just under 600 m in length.
The declines are extended at an average of 3 m/d, and one will be used solely to convey ore to surface, while the other decline will be used for men and materials.
Constcrusher price in maharashtraruction of the plant is due to start early in 2008, and will be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2009. The plant should move into full production in October 2010.
The development of four lateral levels, on each side of the decline, will be built and will stretch to a distance of about 4 km, each with its own strike conveyor.
The orebody will be mined using the board-and-pillar mining method. The concentrate will be transported by truck for refining at Polokwane, in Limpopo province.
The Unki project is experi- menting with a small hand-held X-ray fluorescence machine, which is able to confirm the position and size of the reef at any interval, predetermined by geologists on site. The machine can improve recoveries from 90% to 100%.
