New Energy Husum 2013 expands its portfolio

Husum, 09 November 2012. New Energy Husum 2013 is staging a special exhibition on ecological building to focus on the subject of passive houses. The Husum exhibition from 21 to 24 March 2013 will for the first time also be providing a platform for biofuel producers, and businesses involved in geothermal energy and hydroelectric power generation.

As one of the most important trade fairs in the renewable energy sector, the topics covered by New Energy Husum range from small wind turbines to biogas, solid biomass, solar heating and photovoltaics, electromobility, energy storage devices and mini-CHPs. “Although we are already the leading trade fair for all aspects of renewable energy, in 2013 we will be showcasing an even wider range of products and services”, says Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress.  In 2013 he is expecting 16,000 visitors from 25 countries, who will be able to discover new products and innovations from over 300 exhibitors across a total exhibition space of 16,000 square metres.

Special exhibition for passive houses and ecological building

New Energy Husum will for the first time also include a special exhibition about energy efficient building systems. Hall 4 will be showcasing around 25 manufacturers of specially insulated wall systems and windows, thermal foundation slabs, ventilation and roof systems. “We are giving ecological building its own special focus at the forthcoming show, with more exhibitors and its own special exhibition space”, says Thomas Seifried, project manager for New Energy Husum, “There will be special emphasis on the passive house concept, a topic we will be presenting for the first time in 2013.”

In collaboration with the trade association Pro Passivhaus, the fair will be holding a specialist seminar entitled “Learned in practice for practical application”. Invited architects, civil and structural engineers, trades and students from Germany and Denmark will be able to establish new contacts, learn about the principles of ecological building, and learn all about new aspects and innovations. At a special forum in the middle of the exhibition, visitors can learn about the differences between low-energy houses, passive houses and plus energy houses.

Small wind turbines in operation at the fair

For businesses in the small wind turbine industry, the Husum show has long been an important meeting place for the industry. With over 70 small wind turbine exhibitors from 12 countries, New Energy Husum is the most important small wind turbine trade fair in Europe. Small wind turbines are increasingly gaining in popularity, and the World Wind Energy Association projects and increased implementation of 3.7 gigawatts by 2020.

“Since the wind is literally blowing outside the door in Husum, visitors in 2013 will be able to see a variety of models in action on the exhibition site”, says Thomas Seifried. Exhibitors at New Energy Husum will be able to erect small wind turbines in front of the main entrance to Hall 1, in addition to those showing in the exhibition halls.

For the fourth time, New Energy Husum will be co-hosting the World Summit for Small Wind, which draws experts from the small-scale wind turbine sector from across the world. Here they can debate the latest developments and achievements in the small wind turbine sector. The 4th World Summit for Small Wind will be primarily dealing with the certification of small wind turbines.

Extensive programme in the NordseeCongressCentrum

Parallel to the exhibition, trade visitors and end consumers can take in a large number of events at the NordseeCongressCentrum (NCC). In addition to the World Summit for Small Wind the NCC is also the venue for the New Energy Husum Congress and the New Energy Science Slam.

The congress is a daily opportunity for research establishments and enterprises to discuss the latest developments, products and technologies. Other important industry topics covered by the congress include energy saving, grid expansion, future markets for renewable energy and smart homes.

At the second New Energy Science Slam, similar to a poetry slam, scientists, students, and young entrepreneurs each have ten minutes to entertain the audience by presenting innovative ideas relating to renewable energy. The audience can then award points and thus vote for the winner. Anyone wanting to take part in the New Energy Science Slam can register with Messe Husum effective immediately. The New Energy Science Slam takes place in the NordseeCongressCentrum at 18:30 on 16 March 2013. Admission free.

About New Energy Husum
In recent years New Energy Husum has become established as one of the most important trade fairs for the renewable energy sector. It has served as a showcase for decentralised energy generation from renewable sources since 2002. The topics and technology on show range from small wind turbines (up to 30 kW), biogas, solid biomass (pellets, firewood and wood chips for heating systems), solar heating, photovoltaics, electromobility to near-surface geothermal energy, energy storage devices, energy efficient building, and mini CHPs. Experts and leading manufacturers will be meeting once again in the North Frisian town of Husum from 21 to 24 March 2013 to pave the way for innovation in a rapidly growing market.
