According to studies, Canada has an aging population with a growing number of seniors (characterized by people aged 65 and older) that needs support, care and assistance. The cases can be either due to age or a long-term medical condition.
Canada’s work force is also comprised of working mothers with children under age of six, dual earner couples with children and working single mothers with young children that are likely candidates of households that needs the support of a caregiver.
People with special needs (senior, adult or children) are also in need of care and assistance. In general, caregivers provide a wide range of support to families with elderly people, children and people with disabilities like personal care (feeding, dressing, toileting, and medication), monitoring and emotional support. It may also include housekeeping, meal preparation and more.
