Worldwide diversity within DNS infrastructure
Beyond doubt short response times and high availability are essential for the domain name system of the Internet. Nevertheless especially emerging markets may face difficulties to raise financial means in order to benefit from a world-wide name server service which provides the so called anycast technology to be protected against DDoS attacks.
Just in time to the upcoming ICANN 42 Meeting in Dakar ironDNS® has funded a program
to make its advantages available to Registries that currently do not have the financial resources to pay for high-class services.
With ironDNS®, a leading DNS service using a completely new and entirely independent name server software, Registries, Registrars and companies get provided with the needed robustness to ward off future threats. The idea is to help Registries improve DNS provisioning and enhance their services. Without any deduction countries who meet the criteria to be eligible for funding can benefit from the free package which is meant as an addition to an already existing server setup. It includes one anycast cloud with 5 nodes, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, provisioning and the DNSSEC engine to enjoy the highest security extension available. To ensure low network latencies for end users ironDNS® nodes are distributed globally.
Registries who want to apply have the opportunity to get in touch with the ironDNS® team directly at the ICANN meeting in Dakar or drop an e-mail to info@irondns.net. Criteria to be eligible are being a ccTLD Registry from a non-OECD country, a nonprofit organization and having less than 100,000 domain delegations.
With the support of Emerging Markets ironDNS® continues its improvement of a highly available and safe Internet through worldwide diversity within the DNS infrastructure.
ironDNS® is a leading DNS service using a completely new and entirely independent name server software. ironDNS® can equally be subscribed to by Registries, Registrars and companies. The software itself is not
for sale. Contrary to open source software, the source code of ironDNS® will never be made public. With this new platform the diversity in the DNS world has been
fundamentally increased. ironDNS® provides its users with the needed robustness to ward off future threats.
