Nashville, Tenn., February 12, 2014 – At the start of each new year, the staff at International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS) come together to nominate and select four deserving charitable organizations that will receive a donation from the company. This annual tradition of giving is known as the Starfish Campaign.
Inspired by the popular story of a young boy and his attempt to save hundreds of starfish stranded on a beach, ISTS President and CEO Becky Sharpe launched the Starfish Campaign in 2010 to give her employees the opportunity to give back to the community and support meaningful causes and organizations.
ISTS has selected the following charitable organizations as 2014 Starfish donation recipients:
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation – MSF offers programs and services nationwide to assist people with the disease, as well as families, caregivers, regional support groups and healthcare professionals.
Alive Monarchs – Alive Hospice, the oldest community-based hospice in Middle Tennessee, treats terminally-ill patients regardless of their age, ability to pay or severity of illness. The organization’s pediatric care program, Alive Monarchs, is one of the nation’s few palliative and hospice care providers for infants and children facing life-threatening illnesses.
Nashville CARES – Nashville CARES provides direct support services to individuals in Middle Tennessee affected by HIV/AIDS, in addition to education, counseling, and testing aimed at raising awareness about prevention and treatment in the general public.
Aid For Friends – This Pennsylvania-based organization runs a comprehensive, free meal-delivery and outreach program for isolated and homebound individuals in Greater Philadelphia.
Thistle Farms, Nashville Rescue Mission, Team Hunt and the Autism Society of Middle Tennessee received support as part of last year’s Starfish campaign. Since its inception, the Campaign has provided nearly $5,000 to local and national organizations.
