Gold-mine gets R3m in agitators

Leader in mixing technology Lightnin Africa, formerly Aeromix, has
completed the supply of agitators to Avgold’s Target gold-mine. The
contract, valued at about R3-million, includes the supply of
agitators for leach vessels, adsorption, eluent lime, storage,
leach calibration tanks and electrolyte tanks.

This contract, which was awarded in October 2000 via Fluor, was for
the supply and installation of seven 1 170 m3 leach vessels, eight
250 m3 adsorption tanks, a 150 m3 electrolyte tank, a 16 m3 eluent
vessel a 160m3 lime storage and a 130 m3 leach calibration vessel.
Commissioning took place in the last quarter of 2001rock crusher maintenance schedule.

Sales manager Rob McArthur says that the units are designed for the
arduous mixing applications which are prevalent at the mine.

He believes that his clients‘ decision to buy these units was based
on the reliability and robust nature of the Lightnin gearbox.

The mixers suppljaw crushing machine working principleied include both the firm’s 70 series and 780
series. The 70 series, which covers the range from 1 hp to 200 hp
and is available in both double- and triple-reduction gearing,
comes in speeds ranging from 280 r/min down to 16,6 r/min. These
mixers offer a wide choice of impellers to optmise process
results.<br /hammer crusher prices in china>

Included in the company profile is the high-flow A310, as well as
other high-performance and more traditional impellers that can be
matched to suit individual company process requirements.

The firm is currently completing some agitators for a gold-mine in
Ghana to the value of R2,5-million. This order includescrushers for smelting industry the supply
of carbon-in-pulp vessels for the leaching process at the
gold-mine. Another lucrative contract on the books at the moment is
for Iduapriem gold-mine, in Ghana, where an order has been placed
for three 780 series mixers valued at R3-million.

These series 780/880 heavy-duty mixers are designed to drive long
overmaintenance hammer crusher manualhung shafts without steady bearings and are thus able to
withstand severe bending and high-torque loads imposed by in-tank
fluid forces.

With motors ranging from 18,5 kW to more than 900 kW, the 780
series is available in five case sizes, and includes double and
triple reduction drives. Using computational fluid dynamics, the
firm has developed the new R320 impeller, to maximise head and flow
while reducing air entrainment in solvent-extraction applications.
This results in lower power consumption, greatly reducing
operational expenses.

The firm currently exports to the copper-mines in Zambia, nickel-
and copper-mines in Zimbabwe, and gold-mines in Mali, Ethiopia and
Tanzania.

McArthur maintains that the company is now able to manufacture
equipment and spares in South Africa to meet international Lightnin
standards. He believes that this gives the firm an opportunity to
deal competitively with the local markets. Due to the local
manufacture process, the company is thus able to meet shorter
delivery periods and manufacture mixers according to customers‘
exact specifications. Included in the firm’s customer base are many
sectors of the manufacturing industry. However, the mining sector
still plays a major role in its business.
