GCL states Baptist Memorial Health Care System to Install Voalte Smartphones in 14 Hospitals

Sarasota, FL, February 10, 2014 – Voalte, the leader in healthcare communication technology, today announced that Baptist Memorial Health Care System, a 14-hospital system spanning three states, selected Voalte smartphones as its system-wide solution for caregiver communication. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany, Mississippi, and NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas, participated in the initial deployment, and the remaining 12 hospitals will roll out Voalte smartphones throughout 2014 and 2015.

The system will deploy over 2,400 devices that will be used by caregivers in all 14 hospitals. The first hospital, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County, installed 87 Apple iPhones provisioned with the Voalte One application. Voalte One allows caregivers to make voice calls, receive alarms and alerts, and send and receive text messages on a single device.

„We were looking for a solution that not only met our communication needs,“ said Dana Dye, Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Executive for the Baptist system, „but also allowed us to leverage our technology investments for the future. We chose Voalte because it simplifies our communication process and provides the infrastructure we need to access our Epic electronic health care record system.“

In the system’s second deployment, NEA Baptist installed 190 Voalte smartphones across all units. In addition to voice calls and text messaging, caregivers at both facilities can receive nurse call alerts directly on their smartphones through the Rauland Responder nurse call system, which allows caregivers to call back directly to the patient’s room.

„Baptist Memorial Health Care is a forward-thinking, innovative system that is pushing the boundaries of traditional healthcare communication,“ said Trey Lauderdale, Founder and President of Voalte. „Choosing Voalte is another example of their mission to improve patient care and satisfaction.“
