GCL publishes ServerPronto Rolls Out IPv6-Enabled Hosting

New York, NY, February 10, 2014 – In a move to enhance its hosting services, ServerPronto has integrated IPv6 support across its global network. The world’s most affordable dedicated server and cloud hosting service provider is actively allocating IPv6 addresses for clients that are preparing for the future of Internet Protocol addresses.

IPv6 is the next generation Internet Protocol (IP) address standard that is supplementing and will eventually replace IPv4, the protocol most Internet services use today. An IP address is essentially a postal address assigned to individual Internet-connected devices that allows websites to correctly deliver information when users perform a search or visit a site.

„We added IPv6 support because our customers asked for it-and we want to provide all the network advantages available in the industry,“ said Chris Kurzweg, CEO of ServerPronto. „By adding IPv6 support, our customers can supplement existing IPv4 to drive more efficient routing today as they prepare for the future.“

IPv4 has approximately 4billion IP addresses. The explosion in the number of people, devices, and web services on the Internet means that IPv4 is running out of space. IPv6, the next-generation Internet protocol which provides more than 340 trillion, trillion, trillion addresses, will connect the billions of people not connected today and will help ensure the Internet can continue its current growth rate indefinitely.

The world officially ran out of the 4.3 billion available IPv4 addresses in February 2011, however hundreds of millions of new people will come online in the years ahead. IPv6, then, is critical to the Internet’s continued growth as a platform for innovation and economic development. As IPv4 addresses become increasingly scarce, every segment of the industry must act quickly to accelerate full IPv6 adoption or risk increased costs and limited functionality online for Internet users everywhere.

„We are at the stage in IPv6 deployment where it’s time for major web hosting providers to make the technology available for customers,“ Kurzweg said. „ServerPronto is making native IPv6, which is fully capable of offering seamless access to the Internet, available for all customers.“
