Beautiful spring/resort ’18 dressing

Whether you wear a dress, pantsuit, gown or jumpsuits, women’s fashions are utterly feminine for spring and resort ’18. Silhouettes vary from a loose fit to shaped on the body. Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs are the designers and founders of the Cushnie et Ochs collection. They design for women and share a creative vision that often pushes sensibilities. While creating this spring/summer collection, they juxtaposed bold sensuality with minimal sophistication. Their clothes exude a raw, yet refined, sense of femininity. The Cushnie et Ochs collection focuses on clean lines and a perfect fit. Their clothes are available at more than 150 stores, including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Harvey Nicols, Selfridges and Net-A-Porter.

The out of the jungle looks of Nicholas K were quite the opposite, showing shapes that were sexy, yet loose-fitting. In the weeks leading up to Fashion Week, this company’s studio suffered a fire that destroyed almost half of their collection. Nevertheless, their show was spectacular. Founded in New York in 2003 by the siblings Christopher and Nicholas Kunz, who are also the designers, the brand is inspired by urban life, outdoor adventures and extensive travel to remote destinations. They envisioned a collection that could be worn beyond each season. Transitional, functional and versatile clothes are key. Their lives are about constant movement, exploration and conscientious living. Highlights from their line include their zebra print jackets and dresses that were on the runway throughout the show worn with various pieces. The minimalist lifestyle of Nicholas K’s customers demand designs that are well crafted, that perform and wear comfortably and transcend the seasons.

On the other hand, there is nothing like a beautiful dress on a woman who wants to look pretty and feminine and make a statement. Designer Prabal Gurung’s runway show was outstanding, yet timely, in noting the serious politics in the air. Fashion is, after all, one of the ways by which designers ease minds during troubled times. His clothes were stunning. There were vibrant color combinations, including bold blue and white, yellow and white and red and pink looks. Silver was another stunning color that shimmered in a gorgeous gown. Most of his gowns are detailed with high splits, dramatic draping and cut-outs in soft flowing fabrics. The best accessories were dangling, glittery earrings, making a fabulous fashion statement.

Born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, Gurung launched his company in February 2009 with a philosophy that encompasses modern luxury, indelible style and an astute sense of glamour. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York, he worked with Cynthia Rowley and Bill Blass. His designs were worn by leading ladies, including the former First Lady Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge. Good shows!Read more at:formal dress shops | cocktail dresses
