Before she was cast to play Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe, Gal Gadot was best known for playing Gisele Yashar in the Fast & Furious franchise. We last saw Gisele in Fast & Furious 6, and while it looked like she perished, much like superhero movies, this is a film series where characters thought dead can still be kicking. So could the same thing happen with Gisele? Could Gadot return to this car-centric franchise once Wonder Woman 1984 has come and gone?
Out of Control“ wasn’t the first time in Station 19 Season 4 that the firefighters realized that law enforcement wasn’t necessarily on their side, which actually led me to suspect that the show is slowly but surely working to launch another Grey’s Anatomy spinoff based on police, a la what NBC has going on with One Chicago. After the winter finale, however, I’m just hoping that Miller and Sullivan aren’t punished in the long run for doing the right thing. Sullivan has had a hard enough season already, and Miller is dealing with some challenges on the home front when it comes to his estranged family and his baby daughter.
For those who haven’t done a Fast & Furious rewatch lately, Gal Gadot debuted as Gisele Yashar in 2009’s Fast & Furious, where the character was initially working for drug trafficker Arturo Braga, but later became one of Dominic Toretto’s allies. Gisele returned in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 as a member of Dom’s crew, and during that time she became romantically involved with Sung Kang’s Han Lue. Sadly, Gisele seemingly fell to her death towards the end of the latter movie, leading Han to finally go to Tokyo like he’d planned to do with her, thus setting up the events of Tokyo Drift.
Wonder Woman 1984 works beautifully as a followup to the superhero’s 2017 adventure, expanding Diana’s character and leaning into the ’80s with style. It’s easily the most emotionally engaging DC Extended Universe movie, with eye-popping action scenes, vivid settings and a positive message that’s a breath of fresh air. Jenkins‘ next stop might be a galaxy far, far away, but let’s hope she and Gadot reunite for another DC adventure soon.
