12th MOST(R) Interconnectivity Conference Asia on November 17, 2011 in Tokyo, Japan

Karlsruhe (Germany) September 28, 2011 – On November 17, 2011 the MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO) – the standardization organization for the leading automotive multimedia network Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) – invites carmakers and suppliers to Tokyo (Japan) for the 12th MOST Interconnectivity Conference Asia (ICA). „We are very pleased to celebrate, together with the Asian automotive industry, the major milestone of the third generation MOST150 already heading towards rollout,“ stated Dr. Christian Thiel, MOST Cooperation Administrator. „This reflects MOSTCO’s path of success, with fast-growing acceptance of this de-facto automotive network standard by key carmakers worldwide. The number of vehicle models relying on the MOST infotainment backbone already totals over 110 vehicle models on the road today.“

Program highlights will include MOST150 implementation updates and experiences including evaluation and results of carmakers‘ activities, as well as know-how and lessons learned from running MOST150 serial development. Further presentations will introduce the latest MOST devices and systems, including optical connectors, test solutions and ongoing specification activities such as High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) on MOST. A look into the MOST future, together with a perspective on possible future MOST Technology aspects and applications, will round off this high quality conference program.

In the exhibition area during ICA 2011, the MOST Cooperation and various members will show the latest MOST solutions and applications. The focus of the MOSTCO demos will be on the seamless integration of Ethernet-based devices within MOST. In addition to transporting high-definition audio and video within the car, MOST150 provides an automotive-ready physical layer for Ethernet. This way, MOST is open to a broad variety of IP-based applications such as supporting apps on connected services and Internet access in general. Also included will be various aspects of application features based on MOST150 and of MOST150 itself. Looking at the expanding areas of automotive telematics use cases, one focus will be on meeting the demand the growing variety of consumer electronic devices poses on car infotainment systems. In addition, the flexibility of the MOST network technology will be demonstrated by showing star, daisy-chain, tree, and other topologies implemented on different physical layers: plastic optical fibers (POF), coax based electrical physical layer, and shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP) copper wires.

About MOST Technology
MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a multimedia networking technology optimized for use in cars and other applications. It enables the transport of high Quality of Service audio and video together with packet data and real-time control over a single transmission medium. MOST can use plastic optical fibers (POF), COAX based electrical physical layer, and shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP) copper wires, that meet automotive environmental requirements. Today, MOST is used in over 110 car models as the communication backbone for their information and entertainment equipment.

About MOST Cooperation
The MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO) is the organization through which MOST Technology is standardized and refined so that it continues to stay abreast of the latest industry requirements. Today it consists of 16 international carmakers and more than 60 key component suppliers. They have joined together to work with the MOST Technology and to contribute to its innovation. The MOST Cooperation is prepared to embrace efforts to further develop and standardize the technology for other industries and to establish the corresponding work structures. The MOST Cooperation was founded in 1998 to standardize MOST Technology as a global standard for multimedia networking. Audi, BMW, Daimler, HARMAN and SMSC are its core partners and constitute its Steering Committee. For more information see http://www.mostcooperation.com.
