Russian TV channel “NTV” showed a programm in which the traffic on the road to Mezhyhirya (former residence of former President and mass murderer Victor Yanukovych) was disguised as alleged panic on the Ukrainian roads. Video that was made by 1+1 employee served as the base for this falsified story. The video that shows traffic jams on the road to Mezhyhirya was made by a creative producer Konstantyn Andriyuk. It can be seen from the video how thousands of Ukrainians travel from all over the country to the estate of fugitive-president, and as a result there was a bad traffic for hours.
The video was uploaded on February 24, 2014 , titled „Mezhyhirya! Opposite lane for chosen!“ The video went viral immediately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAnsxFtjV2E
On March 12 , TV channel “NTV” shared the video from the Mezhyhirya titled „Chaos on the roads in Western Ukraine“: http://www.ntv.ru/novosti/857477/?fb_action_ids=828397637186557&fb_action_types=video.watches&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B465302353598015%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22video.watches%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D
“NTV” channel reports that in Ukraine road police have allegedly stopped working, the number of road accidents increased and police officers have virtually disappeared. Taking advantage of the situation, Ukrainians have allegedly started violating the rules, like going the opposite lane. It’s beeen also mentioned that this chaos was taking place in Western Ukraine, although the footage from Kyiv was used instead. „This video of traffic jam near Mezhyhirya was shot on my DVR. There were no attempts from “NTV” channel to contact me whatsoever. Moreover, in the story told in program there was no mentioning of my Youtube channel link, because otherwise conscious Russian citizens could’ve reassure in the lie“- says Kostyantyn Andriyuk. He is extremely indignant at the fact how cynically Russians media used his footage and now he turns for help to lawyers.
„1+1“ TV channel is deeply concerned about the behavior of Russian colleagues and wishes to remind them that the main objective of any media is unbiased approach to news coverage.
