Diversified Technologies: Bioraffinerien sparen Kosten dank PEF-Vorbehandlung von Algen zur Ölgewinnung
(ddp direct) Bei der von Diversified Technologies vorgestellten P EF-Vorbehandlung von Algen in der Ölgewinnung werden elektrische Impulse von 10-30 kV/cm für 2 bis 20 Mikrosekunden auf Algenmaische angewendet. Dadurch werden die Zellwände zerstört und Biodieselverbindungen, z.B. Methylhexadekanoat, werden freigesetzt. Das Unternehmen schätzt, dass dieses energiesparende Verfahren etwa 0,03 $ des Literpreises des aus Algen gewonnen Biotreibstoffs ausmacht, gegenüber 0,45 $/l bei der konventionellen Trocknung vor der Extraktion der Lösung.
Die von Diversified Technologies vorgestellte PEF-Vorbehandlung von Algen im Ölgewinnungsprozess erfolgt integriert und ist für große Produktionsmengen skalierbar. Sie besteht aus einer Kammer, in der die Algenmaische eingepumpt und behandelt wird, sowie einem Gestell, das die Stromversorgung und den Pulsmodulator aufnimmt. Das Verfahren der g epulsten elektrischen Felder ist in der Desinfektion von Nahrungsmitteln sowie in der Abwasseraufbereitung erprobt, wo es seit mehreren Jahren gewerblich eingesetzt wird.
Die von Diversified Technologies vorgestellte PEF-Vorbehandlung von Algen im Ölextraktionsprozess wurde finanziell durch eine Zuwendung der National Science Foundation unterstützt.
