The 42-year-old married businessman Conrad Baker at Canterbury Cathedral with 13-year-old Harry – grandson of former prime ministerJohn Major – stepping in to take her arm, in place of her ill father.

Emma told Hello! magazine that the teenager reassured her when she suffered a bout of pre-wedding nerves.

„Harry had been so excited about the wedding. He was so wonderful in the car on the way to the cathedral,“ she said in an interview with the magazine, which also covered her first marriage in 1999 at the chapel in Parliament.

„He said ‚Are you still nervous, Mummy? Don’t be, I’m here‘.

Emma went on: „My family love Conrad and are overjoyed that I have found someone who cares for me and the boys so deeply.“

Emma – whose acting work included Crossroads and Jonathan Creek – saw her marriage to James end in divorce in 2004. As well as her son Harry, she has a two-year-old son, Roman, with Conrad. Guests at their wedding included DJ Sonique, Mica Paris and royal dress designer Elizabeth Emanuel.

Emma said she had initially harboured hopes of a small ceremony but as a former scholar of King’s School, her new husband was able to marry at the cathedral so they chose to do that.

„I was all for having a low-key wedding with a bit of a festival vibe,“ she explained.

„Then Conrad broke it to me that, actually, he’d been waiting for this moment since the age of 13 and that there was no way we were getting married anywhere other than at the cathedral.“
