Reliability and transparency – Customers benefit from simplifications in customs procedures for international trade
Antwerp, 25 July 2013 – LEHNKERING Logistics N.V., which has its headquarters in Antwerp, received AEO certification in mid-July. The Belgian subsidiary of LEHNKERING GmbH based in Duisburg, Germany, is able to provide simplified customs procedures within the 28 EU member states as a result of being an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO).
AEO status confirms that LEHNKERING is a particularly trustworthy partner for international logistics operations. The certificate is regarded as a quality seal for reliability and security. Authorised Economic Operators (AEOs) are able to offer simplified customs procedures when importing and exporting goods. The items are also subject to fewer physical checks.
“As a result of AEO certification, we can offer our customers an even better service related to importing and exporting their goods. The simplifications in the customs processes and the preferential handling accelerate the customs formalities to a significant degree,” said Hans van den Bosch, Managing Director of LEHNKERING Logistics N.V. He added that the certificate gives LEHNKERING a major advantage over competitors who are not AEO-certified.
LEHNKERING Logistics B.V., which has its headquarters in Rotterdam, also has AEO certification. The Dutch subsidiary of the chemical logistics company based in Duisburg passed the testing procedures set by the customs services as early as 2011. Both LEHNKERING subsidiaries are part of the Distribution Logistics corporate division and provide port logistics operations, i.e. extensive logistics services at the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, for European and international chemical customers. The portfolio of services includes importing and exporting containers, warehouse logistics, distribution, sampling and analysing consignments, laboratory services and far-reaching value-added services, e.g. packing or labelling. Customers obtain direct access to the markets in Europe and overseas through LEHNKERING’s dangerous goods warehouses at ports like Rotterdam.
