Backcountry Skis
Backcountry skis are also called alpine touring skis or randonee. Backcountry skiing refers to the skiing in which the skiers first have to climb the hill to reach the top. The backcountry skis have bindings that enable uphill climbing by freeing the heel. The heel is released when running downhill as well. The backcountry skis are more flexible than the carving skis but their stiffness is more than the powder skis. The waist widths of the backcountry skis measures between 78 and 102 millimeters. The selection of these as per the waist depends upon the terrain where one is skiing.
Twin Tip Skis
These skis have a curved-up tip and a curved up tail. These were earlier popular for the land jumps backward and the take offs. However, now they are available as all-mountain skis with the skis being wider in the front and slightly longer in length.
Race Skis
As the name suggests, the race skis are ideal for racers and advanced skiers. They are highly specialized skis that help during racing.
