Enhanced distribution system helps firm increase mining-linked sales

Metalworking products manufac- turer Harris Products Group is expanding its distribution channel in South Africa to offer South Africa’s mining customers more direcpre inspection checklist for crushert access to its products.

The expansion, which was implemented at the beginning of January, has reportedly helped the companygyratory crusher specifications 2 triple sales in the first half of 2012, compared with sales levels in the corresponding period of 2011.

The company hopes to improve its market share by expanding the distribu- tion channel and improving access to Harris products.

One of the reasons for expanding the South African channel is based on competitive brands migrating to Chinese parts and products, challenging Harris’s market share.

“South Africa is a key market to Harris and our parent company, Lincoln Electric. Lincoln’s welding products comple- ment Harris’s products and vice versa; it’s important that our South African customers know that Lincoln and Harris work as a team to provide them with the best products to meet all their heavy- industry needs.”

The company has plans for further expansion in Africa. “This would include Nigeria for its proximity to oil production, Angola for its similarity to our business in Portugual, and Tanzania, which has the same profile of mining companies that operate in that country.

“Customers in the countries that border South Africa will also have access to Harris’s new distribution network,” he concludes.
