Fujitsu’s CONAX certified set-top box chipsets from the MB86H611 series ensure content security for cost-sensitive markets.

Company“s HDTV decoder family delivers a superior cost/performance ratio for set-top box (STB) markets

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe (FSEU) today announced that its HDTV multi-decoder processor MB86H611 with advanced security architecture has been successfully certified by CONAX, one of the world“s leading providers of advanced content protection across broadcast, broadband and OTT solutions. The announcement underscores the good market fit for the company“s HDTV decoder family, since modern content security architectures are increasingly relying on the video chipset.

With the rapid growth of the operator market now spanning the globe, content protection has become increasingly important to its key players, particularly in emerging markets. Fujitsu has leveraged its expertise in the cost-sensitive free-to-air STB market for the development of pay-TV solutions. By achieving compliance with CONAX Chipset Pairing requirements, MB86H611 now enables Fujitsu“s platform to run the latest CONAX security solutions.

Featuring CI+ and/or embedded CAS for advanced security, the MB86H61 series offers a highly integrated HD multi-standard STB decoder designed to meet the needs of what is now a worldwide HD set-top box market. The MB86H61 is part of a single-chip video decoder family that supports H.264/AVC, MPEG-2, AVS and VC-1 video decoding at high-definition resolutions up to 1080p 50/60Hz output. An optimised chip architecture combined with an efficient process technology mode supports system designs offering minimal power consumption both in standby mode and during operation.

„Emerging new technologies are enabling more sophisticated services, including the sharing of content between different devices in the home,“ said Miguel Estevez, Marketing Manager Home Entertainment at Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe. „This is raising the bar for content protection security, driven by increasing demands from the consumer.“

Availability
Samples, including complete system development kits, are now available for immediate use in developing set-top boxes with CONAX embedded Conditional Access System (CAS) products.
